Whether it be downtown carolers, a hot chocolate shared with friends, or glittering lights atop Main Street, Northampton comes alive with a special electricity during the Holidays. It has been truly lovely to see so many customers actively choosing local and handmade gifts. Family and friends picking jewelry with heartwarming care and diligence, knowing this a gift to last forever.

These are some of the items making it on my wish list this year...
The Victorian Angel necklace shown here with a sapphire perfectly blends a modern and vintage aesthetic.

A Circle-Cross bracelet is one of the best illustrations of quality craftsmanship that goes into our jewelry, each circle is handmade then linked creating this delicate pattern!
Sparkling Ruby's look amazing in the Lily Cap style earring, I can't help but smile looking at these delicate beauties!

Something old, something new...

It just so happens that two of our recent rings follow the famous wedding adage.

Both new and blue, this custom made white gold and sapphire ring balances a modern style with this brilliant stone.

While this stunning Deco platinum and diamond ring remains an "old" but timeless piece incorporating many breathtaking details. We may still be searching for something borrowed, however we couldn't help but to share with you these rings!

One of the most enjoyable aspects of making custom wedding rings is seeing different variations on one of our signature designs. Recently we made this ring in 14k white gold with a stunning diamond set into our wheat band, the ring is both wearable and impressive. Congratulations to the lucky couple!

Sunny Citrine in November

As we begin transition into a frenetic yet joyous holiday mode, I couldn't help but to quickly reflect on the November sunshine that was so abundant this weekend. Citrine, November's birthstone, perfectly captures this glowing warmth.

New (to us) Vintage Cluster Rings

We just got three of the most unique cluster rings we have ever had!
This first one is 14k White gold, with 2mm diamonds on the outside and a 3mm diamond in the center of the cluster. It is an Art Deco ring and these diamonds are very large in comparison to most diamonds used in cluster rings.

This second ring is a square cluster ring! The diamonds are all approximately 2mm, round diamonds set into a square setting. The setting is 14k White gold and the shank is 14k Yellow gold.

This last ring is the smallest but is definitely very unique. The diamonds on the outside are all about 1mm and it has a beautiful, light colored sapphire in the center. The shank is 14k Yellow gold and the setting is Platinum. There is also a lot of beading around the smaller diamonds, adding a lot of texture to the setting.

New Silk Necklaces

So here is a little preview of some of the new styles we are doing for fall! These necklaces are made of brass beads that are tied onto hand dyed silk. They come in various lengths, colors, and with different charms and such on them. These are two of the most basic ones. The shorter one is a beautiful slate blue with our Fleur De Lis casting in vermeil hanging from it. The other is a deep chocolate brown and is long enough to slip over your head. Stay tuned for more pictures of our new fall line!

Platinum Engagement Ring

Check out this beautiful vintage platinum engagement ring! It sold today to one of our luckiest customers! All of us at the shop have been fawning over this beautiful ring. The setting was so low profile, especially for a diamond of this size. So wonderful.

Hand Beaded

Check out this new style that we are doing. The necklace is hand beaded with gold beads, pearls, topaz beads, all the same quality as our other jewelry (no glass, all precious metal and stones) and then the drop pendant is rutilated quartz with other smaller gemstones bundled at the top of the quartz. The pendant is secured to the necklace with a vermeil hook, making it easily detachable so you can just wear the strand of pearls and gemstones. Enjoy!

Smells like Fall!!

So even though these days have been very very warm in Massachusetts, the nights have been cool and crisp, a sure sign that fall is headed our way. I love fall. The colors, needing to wear a sweater, and the feel of the sun and the cool wind at the same time... and the smell! The smell of leaves and cold

And the best thing about fall I think is that you can still be outside doing really great things outdoors, and you can be inside without feeling too guilty. In the summer it is so hard to be inside when it is nice out (at least in New England where the summer is so short and unpredictable) because you feel like you are wasting a day, a day that could be one of only a handful in the year where it is hot and you can wear a bathing suit. But in the fall you can be outside hiking or gardening or doing a project around the house, or you can be inside baking a pie or reading a book and just be cozy.

But best of all is that it starts to be cool enough to bake and cook comfort food. Mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, butternut squash soup, stews and chili, homemade bread. Those are the smells of my kitchen in the fall, and the coziness of baking something delicious for the people around me is the best feeling of the fall. -Lindsay

Last Days of Summer

Summer is not over yet. The weather is still warm and the sun is still shining, and of course the water is the warmest it will be for the entire year. This is why August is the best and worst part of summer. School is right around the corner for some of you, and that means cold frosts, close toed shoes, and sweaters... but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I say take the last month of summer to do all of those things that you said you would do later! Finish projects, have a yard sale, go to the beach, or just read a book for pleasure! And throw on those sundresses one last time to go to your local farmer's market or fair. Here are some fun accessories for the end of summer. Enjoy the last couple weeks of it!

Oldies but Goodies

One of my favorite things about knowing jewelry so well is being able to look at a beautiful vintage piece and see the uniqueness and value before it is even polished. I love vintage jewelry and think that it is such a valuable piece of history and artistry. So in that light, I wanted to show you all some of our new vintage pieces that I've acquired in the last couple months.

This ring is a vintage rose cut diamond set in a rose gold setting. I love how small and simple it is, and the rosy hue of the gold adds such a warm feeling to the ring.

This band is called the "Hollin Style" and can be found with and without the diamond setting on the top.

This last ring was purchased for one very lucky lady just a week ago. It is a vintage Cluster Diamond ring from the Edwardian period and is set in rose gold. The setting was very low so it sat close to the finger and was a petite size 5. The great thing about buying vintage engagement rings is that the diamonds and gold have already been mined. It is one of the best ways to be "eco-friendly" with a diamond. And the styles are so unique and wonderfully crafted. If the style of the ring is still popular now, 100+ years later, then you know it can stand the test of time.

Always a bridesmaid...

So with wedding season upon us, let's give thanks to all of you wonderful women who are playing the role of bridesmaid with some beautiful handcrafted jewelry from our studio. I have a variety of different styles of inexpensive earrings and necklaces that are beautiful and unique just like our proper line. This is a pair of gold vermeil hoops with garnet stones. So simple, but so elegant.

Some other favorites for gifts to the wedding party are these great small circle earrings. This image shows the earrings with blue topaz and with citrine, but can be made with any colors that would match their dresses.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

A story of romance in a whimsical wooded forest setting in the middle of summer... it's all I have been able to think about during these hazy days.

I have always loved intertwining the colors and geometries of nature with my designs, and the fun whimsy of the Shakespearean tale really connects with the pieces that I have been drawn to this summer. Here is a pair of cluster earrings with gold leaves and the colors of a mythical forest.
I have always loved fairy tales, mostly their idyllic setting, with beautiful warm weather and wonderful gigantic trees covered with green leaves.

So although the weather is slightly warmer than the idyllic fairy tales of yore, I cannot help being inspired by the vine covered trees that light up the forest.

Weaving Art

“Our life is composed greatly from dreams, from the unconscious, and they must be brought into connection with action. They must be woven together.” Anais Nin

So yesterdays posting of our hand woven lattice necklaces got me to thinking about the art of weaving. I starting scrolling for images and found all sorts of amazing wicker sculptures. I find them so enchanting and the skill and technique astounding. I love that weaving is something humans have done for centuries and the fragility of the materials.
