And the best thing about fall I think is that you can still be outside doing really great things outdoors, and you can be inside without feeling too guilty. In the summer it is so hard to be inside when it is nice out (at least in New England where the summer is so short and unpredictable) because you feel like you are wasting a day, a day that could be one of only a handful in the year where it is hot and you can wear a bathing suit. But in the fall you can be outside hiking or gardening or doing a project around the house, or you can be inside baking a pie or reading a book and just be cozy.

But best of all is that it starts to be cool enough to bake and cook comfort food. Mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, butternut squash soup, stews and chili, homemade bread. Those are the smells of my kitchen in the fall, and the coziness of baking something delicious for the people around me is the best feeling of the fall. -Lindsay
