Vintage Wedding Dress of the Week in 1940s Satin...

Dear Reader,
My dress of the week is this gorgeous original 1940s satin gown, with lace appliqué trim at the neckline…
The dress is worn over a fitted slip in heavyweight satin, which helps give structure and drape. This stunning 1940s lace coat - with its open front and long elegant train - makes the perfect cover-up.
This beautiful original vintage wedding outfit (slip, dress and coat) is approximately a size 10, and is available priced £1350 for the three pieces.
The dress also looks fabulous with the ostrich and marabou feather cape, shown below. This a great way to create two quite different looks: one that is elegant and modest for the daytime service and reception, then add the cape for pure glamour for the party!
The cape is available separately, priced £150.
A gorgeous, flattering and really versatile combination. Thanks for looking, and do pop back later this week to see beautiful real vintage bride Jane.

Real Bride Selina, in 1940s-style Wedding Dress

Dear Reader,
A few weeks ago I featured a tiny glimpse of gorgeous Selina, who wore the 'Bette' 1940s wedding dress from my Heavenly Collection.
Selina is so elegant in the dress, and a few readers asked to see more pictures. I'm delighted that Selina - fresh back from her fabulous honeymoon in Zagreb, Venice and Lake Garda - has just sent some new  images...
Cheers! And have a lovely weekend, everyone.

Annie dances in 1940s AND 1950s wedding dresses!

Dear Reader,
You may remember me showing this gorgeous original 1940s vintage wedding dress...
Well today, I have a treat to share - the pictures of lovely dancer Annie wearing it. And wearing a beautiful 1950s wedding dress too!
Annie described the pleasure of finding her perfect dress... sorry, dresses! (nobody says you're only allowed one!)
"I had tried on various dresses in some lovely boutiques, but it was when I visited Helena at Heavenly Vintage Brides that I knew vintage was the way for me.
There was something very special about finding a vintage dress that hardly needed any alteration, I liked to think back to the dress’ first owner and wonder about them, if they were at all like me.
So when a white lace 40s dress fitted me almost perfectly, I had my ‘it’s the one’ moment. I also fell in love with a 1952 buttermilk dress Helena had dubbed her Betty Draper. And with two wedding days it was clear I needed two dresses!
The fact that the two vintage dresses came to less than one modern boutique dress was all the additional persuasion needed."
The wedding took place in the wonderful surroundings of Annie's parents' Buckinghamshire garden, (with an intimate event at The Compleat Angler in Marlow on the day before). Annie's parents even built a romantic summer house specially!
And as you'd expect at a dancer's wedding, they certainly knew how to cut a rug. No Dad-dancing allowed...
Scotsman Dickie was no sartorial slouch himself. Here he is, looking very dapper in a Douglas family tartan kilt...
Happy days! If you'd like to see more of dancer Annie's wonderful wedding, check out her post on Rock My Wedding, here.

Vintage Bride of the Week: Stunning Selina in 1940s 'Bette' Wedding Dress

Dear Reader,
Bride of the week is Selina, stunning in 1940s wedding dress Bette from my Heavenly Collection.
Selina has a wonderful figure. And the Bette dress with its lower back suited her so beautifully...
Groom Joe agreed completely. In Selina's words...
"The day was amazing and everything was perfect from start to finish. Joe loved the dress as did the guests and I felt gorgeous in it. I had a lot of comments and questions about who made it.
Thank you so much - I hope you're busy making lots of brides as happy as you made me!"
It was a joy to work with Selina - a privilege to dress such a delightful girl. Lucky Joe!
And of course, lucky me! I do love my job and I am very proud of all my Brides. Huge congratulations to Selina and Joe!
