It's your perfect vintage wedding dress. Why cover it up... right?

Dear Reader,
From lace bolero to marabou stole, the right cover-up is a fabulous addition to your vintage wedding dress - adding an extra layer of glamour or sophistication. Let's look at a few delicious examples…
Ostrich and Marabou Stole, priced £150
First, this super-glamourous ostrich and marabou stole, turning a demure and simple satin dress into a fabulous 1940s showstopper…!

Now the same lovely simple dress - this time with an original 1940s lace jacket. Elegant and sophisticated with its long lace sleeves and full-length lace train, you may remember this combination featuring recently as my Vintage Wedding Dress of the Week...

Next, these beautiful capelets adding such pretty and individual style to a full-length lace 1930s wedding dress. The first and second images show an original Victorian lace capelet - these are now very rare, so I'm delighted to have found it!

And the image below is real vintage bride Leah, who chose this stunning 1930s capelet with her 1930s lace dress. You can see a full feature on Leah's wedding here.
Finally, I've worked hard to create the ultimate solution: a cover-up to complement almost any vintage wedding dress. From my own Heavenly Collection, here is the Colette bolero in delicate lace, created to prettily cover any exposed skin...
Colette is shown here in French lace with a guipure lace trim. It can be ordered in a range of different laces, to ensure it's the perfect complement to any vintage dress.
So whether you're adding a layer to create very different looks for day and night, or simply looking for a little more coverage, do consider what a cover-up has to offer. Just contact me if you'd like to know more or to see any of these gorgeous pieces.

A word about slips… The perfect support for your vintage wedding dress.

Dear Reader,
Let's talk underwear! In this case, underwear pretty enough to wear on its own…
Believe it or not, this is actually a satin slip, not a vintage wedding dress! So many girls have commented on how pretty it is, so I thought I'd show it off today...
I've worked so hard on creating a great fit and really flattering shape for the slip. It's the perfect foundation layer for my 1930s style wedding dresses, Angel and Butterfly from my Heavenly Collection
Shown here in Blush pink, I also offer this slip dress in Lavender, Latte and Champagne. Other colours such as silver also look beautiful and are possible on request.
And if you like the gorgeous lace jackets in the pictures, do check back later this week for my feature on choosing a cover-up for your vintage wedding dress.

Vintage Bride of the Week: Beautiful Martina in a traditional Swedish bridal crown

Dear Reader

I've just received this lovely image, and wanted to share it with you straight away.

Beautiful vintage bride Martina married in Sweden in June. If you look closely, you'll see Martina is wearing a Brudkronan, an antique bridal crown. This wonderful Swedish tradition reaches right back to the Middle Ages. The crown is held at the local church for all brides to wear on their wedding day.

I'll be featuring more pictures of this gorgeous couple on my vintage wedding blog. And I have more real vintage weddings here. Thanks for visiting today.

To complement the perfect vintage wedding dress.... a beautiful vintage-inspired headpiece.

Dear Reader

I am often asked for advice on the perfect accessories to complement vintage wedding dresses.

Here we teamed 'Butterfly', one of our beautiful vintage-style lace wedding dresses with a lovely headpiece by Abby at Cherished.

Abby makes each exquisite piece using original vintage materials: this one was cleverly created from an original paste dress ornament, combined with vintage 1920s gold bugle beads and ivory satin glass beads.

You can see the full range of Abby's beautiful vintage-style accessories on her website, or her Facebook or Twitter pages.

Gypsy Wedding, Vintage-style!

Dear Reader,
A little while ago I lent some of my original vintage wedding dresses for a photo shoot by Christian and Erica from Christian Ward Photography.
Their idea was to recreate a vintage gypsy wedding. Not the 'big fat gypsy wedding' kind, but something soft and romantic from days gone by - based on real Romany traditions and recommendations from real-life travellers...
The results are beautiful and inspiring...
If you'd like to see more, there's a full feature on rockmywedding and I'll be showing more of their lovely images next week.

Thanks for dropping by, heavenlies.

Choosing a veil for your vintage wedding dress.

Dear Reader,

I am always on the look-out for lovely accessories for my clients, and recently I've been thinking about veils.
The right veil can add so much to a beautiful vintage wedding dress. Just think of the wonderful images of Kate Moss in her Juliet cap veil. And of course, the iconic Grace Kelly...
I rarely find vintage-style veils that work so beautifully, so I have been thinking for some time of designing my own range of Heavenly veil. I'm delighted to have found a veil-maker whose work is amazing quality - and have seized the opportunity to work with her!
We're very busy designing a small exclusive range, launching in just a few weeks. The first is inspired by cloche or cap veils from the 1930s which were worn low on the forehead. These are often called Juliet caps - based on Shakespeare's play Romeo & Juliet, as the original drawings showed Juliet wearing a neat, fitted cap.
Our updated version will be worn slightly further back, for a softer more flattering look - like the gorgeous style worn by Kate Moss.
Our Heavenly veils have a special style of lace embroidery called Cornelli and are all made by hand. (Even the delicate silk rose trims are hand-made!) I'll be launching the first two styles in a few weeks with a photo-shoot to show them off. But for now I can't resist sharing a glimpse of how pretty they are...
So keep watching this space - I want you to be the first to see them please!
